For Writers

Are you an aspiring author or have you been writing for awhile? If you need some inspiration or a guiding hand from authors who have been on this journey longer than you have, here are a few books and websites I would recommend.

First, the books, most of which you should be able to find online or possibly in your local book store. Although there are too many to count, and I have more than my fair share, here’s a list of some of the books I’ve enjoyed and continue to reference off and on:

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, by Stephen King

The Writer’s Workout (366 tips, tasks & techniques from your writing career coach), by Christina Katz

Marketing for Writers who Hate Marketing, by James Scott Bell

The Productive Writer (tips & tools to help you write more, stress less and create success), by Sage Cohen

Writer with a Day Job (inspiration and exercises to help you craft a writing life alongside your career), by Aine Greaney

The Writer’s Little Helper (everything you need to know to write better and get published), by James v. Smith, Jr.

Shut up & Write! by Judy Bridges

Whether you hope to publish traditionally or you need advice about self-publishing or the craft of writing, here is a list of a few of the authors and bloggers I follow who offer fairly consistent and useful writing advice:
